This performance took place at the Sari Art Gallery. The artist sat in front of three televisions, one showing snowflake, another displaying yesterday’s news, and the third playing looping images of the city, people, and factories. Meanwhile, another person used cupping therapy techniques (a technique that uses cups placed over the skin to create negative pressure through suction) to draw blood from the artist.
After the cupping session, the artist wrote a repetitive sentence that they had heard since childhood on a piece of paper and tossed it onto the ground. This poetry was inspired by a line from a Pink Floyd poem that addresses media and television.
And when they found our shadows
Statement:
Groups ’round the TV sets
They ran down every lead
They repeated every test
They checked out all the data in their lists
And then the alien anthropologists
Admitted they were still perplexed
But on eliminating every other reason
For our sad demise
They logged the only explanation left
This species has amused itself to death
A part of “Amused to Death” lyric from a music album with the same name by Roger Waters
